Reach for the stars!

March 2023

We have had yet another busy and exciting month!

We began this half-term by finishing off our learning about traditional tales. As artists, we built upon our learning from earlier on in the year when we learnt how to use different brush strokes in our paintings. This term, we changed the type of paint we were using to watercolour paints. We enjoyed using different types of brushes and brush strokes and we created the most beautiful watercolour castle paintings.

We began our new topic 'We're Going on a Journey.' We spoke about the features of our immediate environment and had a go at creating maps using various resources. Here are some examples of the maps we created during our playing and learning time:

During our maths sessions we focussed on doubling. We found lots of things around our environment that we could double, including ourselves!

           "Look, we're a double, I'm 5 and he's 5, 5 and 5 make ten."

We also looked at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes. Here we are making 2d shapes using lollipop sticks.

Towards the end of the month we enjoyed a special musical performance of the story 'Izzy Gizmo.' We were very good at joining in with the words and the actions and it was wonderful to see and listen to all sorts of different musical instruments. We also had great fun on the inflatables as part of our end of term treat.
