Reach for the stars!

May 2023

Yet another month has passed and our classroom has been a hive of activity as we continue our 'Wonderful World' topic. We read the story of 'Handa's Surprise' and learnt all about the African continent. We learnt about different animal habitats in Africa and we discussed how Africa is different to England and Antarctica. We welcomed ZooLabs to our classroom and they told us some fascinating facts about African animals, not only this but we were given the opportunity to handle different creatures. Just look at how brave we were:

During our Art sessions we learnt about self-portraits. We learnt how to correctly position the features when drawing faces and we then looked at each feature in close detail. Here we are drawing self-portraits:

During our maths sessions we have been working on securing our instant recall of bonds to five. Here we are playing a game using our numberbonds knowledge to work out how many cubes our partners are hiding:

The sun has been shining which has brought along with it lots more opportunities for water play and exploration. We have really enjoyed having the water run out and we have been experimenting with different ways of making the water flow in the direction we would like it to flow in. It sure was hard work doing so much problem-solving.
